For The Biggest Loser TV Fans, you will be excited to hear that the next series is all about the people of Ararat. The whole town is getting behind the Reality TV show and there are around 500 people that have signed up to participate in weight loss programs, challenges and attend cooking demonstrations etc and then of course, there are those that will appear on the show as a contestant to win the large cash first prize.
Filming has begun and will hopefully showcase our beautiful Grampians to the millions of people that watch the show.
The trainers and contestants were sighted climbing Mt William last week and camping overnight in Halls Gap. The next series is expected to air Sep/Oct this year.
Awonga Cottages - Halls Gap
Awonga Holiday Cottages are a group of seven self contained cottages in the heart of Halls Gap.
Ideal for a group gathering, of the seven cottages, four are available for holiday rental all year round and consist of 3 x 1 bedroom cottages and 1 x 2 bedroom cottage. The four cottages can sleep up to 18 people but can also be hired individually.
Located less than 1km from the centre of Halls Gap and it takes about 15 minutes to walk along the sealed walking track to the shops, cafes and restaurants.

The fire that has been burning for the past two weeks in the Southern part of the Grampians National Park has now been contained.
Firefighters have worked tirelessly since the lightning strikes occurred that ignited this fire on 14th Feb. Crews will continue until the fire is completely out and are very happy that no homes were lost.
There is still a current advice for the townships of: Cherrypool, Glenisla, Mooralla, Woohlpooer, Bornes Hill and the community within the Victoria Valley.
The Northern Grampians area including Halls Gap is not currently in any danger of bush fires and is not expected to be. The local roads remain open as well as the attractions in that part of the National Park. The road between Dunkeld and Halls Gap has re-opened.
The fires currently burning in the Southern areas of the Grampians National Park are being very closely monitored by Parks Victoria. Some local roads in that area have been closed as well as parts of the park.
Up to date information on road closures within the National Park can be obtained from Parks Victoria Ph 131 963 and other roads from VicRoads Ph 131 170.
Once again Halls Gap plays host to the 2013 Grampians Jazz Festival held between 8th – 10th February. The program officially begins on Friday at 5pm and on Saturday at 10am there is a street parade followed by sessions from 11am. On Sunday morning at 9.30am a Jazz Gospel Service will be held in the marquee with sessions resuming after that until closure at 6pm.
Cost for the weekend attendance is $55 per adult and $7 for children.

The Pinnacle Lookout Halls Gap
The Pinnacle walk in Halls Gap is one of the more infamous hikes in the Grampians National Park. Almost everyone who has heard of Halls Gap, knows of the Pinnacle. This famous Halls Gap lookout takes you along an amazing rock formation with several water crossings, footbridges through a canyon and eventually to the top where there are spectacular views down to the township of Halls Gap and beyond.
Generations of families keep coming back and take their children who then take their children on a walk to the Pinnacle.
There are at least three different tracks to the lookout with varying degrees of difficulty. The most common is from the Wonderland Car Park where the track is about 4.2km return and takes about 2 – 2.5hrs to complete.
Winter has gone and springtime is coming! With the change in seasons comes a change in colours. The grass and leaves are greener, and flowers of all types bloom riotously in meadows and leas. Springtime in the Grampians National Park is especially beautiful.
Set against a stunning backdrop of rugged peaks and wild Australian bush, spring heralds a time of abundance, where the kangaroos and other wildlife come out to play. One of the best ways to enjoy this season is to spend a weekend at the park and explore the various trails that will take you to some of the best sights of the Grampians.
