The Grampians National Park is reopening a number of popular visitor sites today in time for the September School Holidays.
After a great deal of hard work by staff and flood recovery crews we are pleased to announce the following openings:
- Mackenzie Falls base – Note: The Mackenzie River walk and access to Zumstein remains closed.
- Sundial Carpark – Note: Due to Mt Victory Road closure on the Halls Gap side, access is only available from the Northern Grampians road via the Wartook Valley, or the Mt Zero and Roses Gap Roads if coming from Halls Gap.
- Sundial Peak walk from Sundial Carpark
- Lakeview Lookout walk from Sundial Carpark
- Viewpoint Lookout from Sundial Carpark
- The Pinnacle from Sundial carpark
- Silent Street loop walk – Note: Only accessible from the Sundial-Pinnacle Walking track. No access into the Grand Canyon and Wonderland carpark, or Venus Baths walking track
- The Pinnacle via Mackey’s Peak track – please note this is a steep strenuous walk for the fit and adventurous only
- Jimmy Creek campground
- Buandik Campground
These walking tracks and campgrounds add to the flood affected sites reopened earlier in the year.
Please note that maintenance standards of these tracks may have changed. Standards may be less than normal or expected. Parks staff have taken much care to ensure that risk issues have been minimised, however hazards may still be present. Visitors are advised to proceed with caution. Please respect closed areas and walk only in open areas.
